A contribution to the neighborhood community

Since its introduction in 2013, the Tree Disc Festival has become a fixture in the neighborhood. Originally, planting and edging tree slices was not permitted in the Treptow-Köpenick district until the end of 2010. However, a committed campaign by local residents led to the legalization of this practice. There are now around 60 well-maintained beds, and the festival not only promotes street tree care, but also the togetherness of local residents.

The festival is decentralized and non-commercial; The stand fees are not charged. Instead, donations from the sale of food and drinks flow into the replacement of dilapidated street trees. At events such as workshops and compositions, residents, traders and artists come together to create a positive feeling of neighborhood.

In addition, a central neighborhood bed is added this year and there is a need for mobile space for courses and lectures. A tent will serve as a starting point during the festival, while bicycle parking spaces in the form of metal hangers are donated to those that take care of the maintenance of a road tree. The networking between old and new residents and the integration of refugees are other central aspects of the series of events.

Many different activities are planned for the festival: from choir singing and board games to yoga and international food. The Tree Disc Festival is not only a celebration of nature, but also an opportunity to strengthen the sense of community in the neighborhood and actively contribute to the beautification of the district. The goals are clear: neighborhood greening, local residents' networking and joint commitment to the needs of the neighborhood.
