Payback project: Approval for Kiezblock in the Kungerkiez
The Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment has approved the funds for the urban planning and open space concept in the Kungerkiez. This groundbreaking project is the first of its kind in Treptow-Köpenick and is supported by the district office. The aim is to make the living environment more attractive by reducing impairments by through traffic and public space is made accessible to all people on an equal footing.
For several years, the district office has been trying to calm down in the Kungererkiez, which is finally due to a citizens' application from 2022. The district council has accepted this application and majority decided. District City Councilor Claudia Leistner for urban development, streets, green spaces and the environment emphasizes the importance of the project and is pleased with the approval of the funds.
The establishment of the neighborhood block will include an inventory of the urban planning, traffic and open space situation in the area. A concrete examination of the deficits and opportunities in the neighborhood is carried out and a long -term concept of measures is developed to improve neighborhood life. The public on site and various specialist authorities are also included.
The creation of a livable and sustainable Kungererkiez for all residents is the declared goal of the project. With the approval of the funds, an important step is taken in this direction, and the tender for the development of the urban planning concept is now being promoted quickly.
