VHS Tempelhof-Schöneberg: Discover courses for a sustainable future!

At the beginning of the new semester in early September, the Volkshochschule (VHS) Tempelhof-Schöneberg opened the doors to a variety of learning opportunities. A total of more than 1100 courses are available, with 170 courses being offered at the southernmost location - the old Mälzerei in Lichtenrade. A special flyer advertises these offers, which can also be viewed on the VHS website.

The new 3D printing courses , which were created in cooperation with the Theodor Heuss library, are particularly noted. This innovation is aimed at technology enthusiasts and those who want to realize creative projects. In addition to this technical offer, the VHS also addresses sustainability in different facets. These include, for example, courses on ecological gardening, retirement provision as well as repair and upcycling workshops. Offers such as "sustainability strategies in companies" and "future of work" aim to impart sustainable and innovative ways of working.

courses for the community

In the area of languages there was an exciting expansion: new course offers now also include beginner courses for Korean, so that the overall offer now includes 13 foreign languages. VHS shows another social commitment by offering free courses in Farsi and Ukrainian for volunteers.

An innovative innovation are the two German courses , which are offered directly in the family hangar of the Tempelhof Airport. These courses are specially designed for women who currently have no way of learning German outside the hangar. The AWO Kreisverband Berlin-Mitte e.V. also ensures childcare, which meets women.

For adults with difficulties in reading and writing, there is an open learning workshop , which is offered in cooperation with the AWO in Tempelhof. In addition, a weekly course at Barbarossaplatz for German is not offered as a mother tongue who want to master everyday challenges when reading and writing.

Another exciting aspect of the program are the courses as part of the “Erw.in” project (adult education inclusive). These are aimed at people with cognitive restrictions that are taught in simple language and slow speed. Interested parties can view the newly published Erw.in program book or pursue the offers online.

In the coming months, several short workshops will also take place in cooperation with the consumer advice center. The subject areas are extremely diverse and range from modern heating technology to rights in the purchase contract. Offers for retirement provision especially for migrants and information about fake shops on the Internet are also planned.

The complete range of courses along with registration options can be found on the VHS website. Printed course lists are also available in the house on Barbarossaplatz.

On September 14, 2024, the opportunity to visit free VHS taster courses and to take part in many other hands-on activities is offered as part of the cultural summer festival. The entire program can be viewed here.
