Traffic concept for Schöneberg lens and red island: Citizen participation started
The district councilor for urban development and facility management, Eva Majewski, has announced that the traffic situation in the area must be viewed in the course of the structural redesign and the expansion in the district of the Schöneberg lens. This applies in particular to the northern residential area. In order to obtain the suggestions and needs of the citizens in the quarters, broad participation should be made possible.
The aim of the traffic concept is to provide a modern and efficient transport infrastructure for all road users and to optimize the traffic processes. The study area includes the Schöneberg lens and a major part of the Red Island. The examination room of the traffic concept is located between the S-Bahn stations in Südkreuz, Schöneberg and Julius-Leber-Brücke and is limited by the streets Sachsendamm (in the south), General-Pape-Straße (in the east), Cheruskerstraße (in the west) and in the north by Kolonnenstrasse.
The planned participation of the citizens is an important step to improve the traffic situation in the affected quarters and to adapt to the needs of the residents. A broad participation can help to take into account the various perspectives and needs of all road users and to find a need -based solution.
It is important to include the concerns of the residents in the planning process, since a successful traffic design contributes significantly to the quality of life in a neighborhood. Due to the dialogue with the citizens, concrete suggestions for improvement can be developed in order to make the traffic situation in the study.
Historical facts about the development of the traffic situation in the area could also offer interesting insights into how the transport infrastructure has changed over the years and what challenges had to be mastered in the past.
In order to get an overview of the traffic situation in the planned study area, a table with information on traffic, accident statistics and current transport infrastructure could make a valuable contribution to better understand the needs and challenges of the area.
