Spielstrasse party in Tempelhof-Schöneberg: Children's revival on the street!

In the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, an exciting event on the subject of play streets will be held again this year. On the occasion of the Berlin game streets 2024 , protected areas are to be created this year, which offer space for playing the children, especially in quarters with little leisure activities. The initiative aims to create meeting places and increase the quality of life in the districts.

Am 20. and September 22, 2024 , several road sections are closed as part of the European week of the mobility from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. . During this time, car and bicycle traffic is banished from the selected areas so that the children can use the newly won scope without danger. On these days the streets are transformed into playgrounds and retreat.

commitment of the district councilor

The district councilor Dr. Ellenbeck was enthusiastic about the participation of her district in the campaign: "With five game streets, the participation of our district in the campaign is particularly great. It is great how well civil society and city work together to create new meeting rooms for the neighborhood. In the past, the curb still belonged to the children.

The Rheingaustraße on 20. September 2024 set up between the Schwalbacher and Hertelstrasse as a playground, followed by further conversions on 22. September 2024 . These include Blumenthalstraße (between Friedensplatz and Bosestrasse), Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße (number 94 to Wenckebachstrasse), Skarbinastraße (number 77 to Nahariyastraße) and Theodor-Francke Straße.

The efforts are supported by the alliance "Temporary Gambling", numerous citizens' initiatives and the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment in order to set a common sign of more cooperation and quality of life in the neighborhood.

All interested parties are cordially invited to take part in these days and to use the new play opportunities. Further information on the Berlin game days in Berlin is available on the website of the Senate Department. If necessary, information and images are also available.
