New district center Marie -Li in Marienfelde and Lichtenrade - a place of encounter and diversity

New district center strengthens community in Marienfelde and Lichtenrade

The official opening of the “Marie-Li” district center in Marienfelde and Lichtenrade marks a decisive step towards social integration and cohesion in the region.

The district office of Tempelhof-Schöneberg is proud to have launched this project together with the Senate Department for Labor, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Idekrimination (SenasGiva). On July 4, 2024, the official opening ceremony took place, the numerous visitors offered the opportunity to discover the diverse range of the district center.

The guests were welcomed by Mr. Bozkurt, State Secretary for Social Affairs of the Senas Giva, and Mr. Eismann, head of the organizational unit social-oriented planning coordination of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district (OE SPK).

Mr. Eismann emphasized the importance of the district center for the local community:

"With the opening of the district center, we set an important milestone on the way to a nationwide encounter of the needs in the social areas of the district. This place should help to counteract the isolation and loneliness and to offer everyone a contact point for encounters and conversations."

The management of the district center is located in the hands of the Pestalozzi-Fröbel-Haus, the Steglitz e.V. district center and the neighborhood and self-help center in the UFAFABRIK Berlin. Together they have put together an extensive program that is open to everyone interested.

The district center "Marie-Li" is not only a place of encounter, but also an important point of contact for social support and integration in Marienfelde and Lichtenrade. The opening celebrates a successful start and promises an enriching future for the entire neighborhood.
