District Mayor sets signs of diversity and tolerance during the Berlin Pride Month
The Berlin Pride Month is imminent and the city of Berlin is preparing for a colorful and diverse celebration to support and celebrate the LGBTIQA+ community. This special month, which was initiated by the district mayor Jörn Oltmann, is a sign of progress and unity in the city.
The Berlin Pride Month is reminiscent of the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York, in which the Queere Community defended itself against police harassment. This act of resistance has inspired and strengthened the LGBTIQA+ movement worldwide to fight for equality and tolerance.
It is important to emphasize that the Berlin Pride Month is not only a celebration, but also sends a message for diversity and acceptance in society. District Mayor Jörn Oltmann expressly emphasizes that hatred and violence has no place in the city and that everyone can be as they want.
This year various queer events take place as part of the Berlin Pride Month, including Europe's largest lesbian-gay city festival and the Christopher Street Day, where the motto "Only together-for democracy and diversity" is. The district office will even take part in the CSD with its own truck to spread the message of love and acceptance.
