35 years of grandparent service: a sign of solidarity and commitment

On September 19, 2024, in the heart of the Historical City Hall Schöneberg, a very special event attracted numerous participants. Under the exciting motto "From the sewing thread to the atomic bomb is all politics. Feminist alliances yesterday - today - tomorrow" the Berlin Frauenbund 1945 e.V. organized a rousing meeting that focused on the importance of the volunteer. From 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., committed citizens, women and social projects as well as prospective grandparents came together to exchange thoughts and experiences.

The event was not only a place of exchange, but also an occasion to celebrate: the "Grand Parental Service - grandchild yourself fit!" was allowed to celebrate an impressive anniversary - 35 years full of successful voluntary work! This Initiative emphasizes how important the generation connection for our society is and what invaluable value has volunteering for the cooperation.

The meaning of solidarity

District Mayor Jörn Oltmann, patron of the event, spoke up and enthusiastic about the role of the volunteers: "The voluntary work in grandparent is impressive how important solidarity between the generations is. This commitment not only strengthens social cohesion, but also enriches the lives of everyone involved." With these haunting words, he underpinned the importance of commitment to the community.

These moving lines remind us how strong the connection between the generations can be. The exchange of experiences, knowledge and support is the foundation of a living and cohesive society. The meeting in the Schöneberg town hall was an expression of these connecting ideas and took the participants on a journey through history and the future of feminist alliances.
