150 years of Friedenau: Anniversary festival invites all citizens to celebrate

Am 7. Juli dieses Jahres feiert Friedenau sein 150-jähriges Bestehen und Bezirksbürgermeister Jörn Oltmann lädt alle Friedenauer_innen und Anwohner_innen der Nachbarkieze herzlich dazu ein, gemeinsam zu feiern. Das Fest verspricht ein abwechslungsreiches und stimmungsvolles Programm, das unter anderem von talentierten Friedenauer Musiker_innen gestaltet wird. Die musikalische Unterhaltung wird von Chören wie dem Stimmwerk Friedenau und dem Chorflakes Friedenau sowie von Musikern und Sängern der Gemeinde Zum Guten Hirten bereitgestellt. Darüber hinaus werden Jugendbands wie Firecrackers, Straight Up und The Leava vom Rheingau-Gymnasium und dem Kinder- und Jugendzentrum Burg auftreten. On July 7 of this year, Friedenau celebrates its 150th anniversary and district mayor Jörn Oltmann cordially invites all Friedenauer and residents of the neighboring neighborhood to celebrate together. The festival promises a varied and atmospheric program that is designed by talented Friedenau musicians.

The musical entertainment is provided by choirs such as the voice plant Friedenau and the Chorflakes Friedenau as well as musicians and singers of the community for good shepherds. In addition, youth bands such as Firecrackers, Straight Up and The Leava from the Rheingau-Gymnasium and the Children's and Youth Center Burg will appear.

A highlight of the anniversary festival is the panel talks that illuminate a "journey through time through Friedenau" and the vision "Design Future". The conversations and the festival are moderated by Doreen Herbe, radio host and editor at RBB 88.8.

The festival also offers numerous volunteers, associations and committed people in Friedenau the opportunity to present their work and to talk to the citizens. Among the participants are the Friedenauer TSC 1886 e.V., the neighborhood home Schöneberg e.V., the Evangelical congregations for the good shepherd and Philippus-Nathanael, the Lion Förderverein Berlin-Benefit e.V. as well as the Fahrbibliothek Tempelhof-Schöneberg.

The history of peace goes back to the foundation of the landing and building association on Actia on July 9, 1871, whose idea was to establish Friedenau as a settlement for civil servants, retirees, authors and artists. On November 9, 1874, the rural community was officially founded and was given the name Friedenau, a word composition of peace and Aue, proposed by Auguste Hähnel.
