Telekom improves mobile phone supply in the district of Barnim

The mobile phone supply in the Barnim district has recently improved. Deutsche Telekom has put a new mobile phone location into operation in the past two months. This expansion improves the coverage of the mobile phone network in the district both outdoors and in buildings. The new location is located in the municipality of Bernau near Berlin and also serves to supply along the railway line in Brandenburg-Nord-Berlin.

"The need for bandwidth is constantly increasing - about 30 percent per year. That is why we continue to expand the mobile network at high speed," says Georg von Wagner, press spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.

At the moment, Telekom operates a total of 95 mobile phone locations in the Barnim district and offers an almost 100 percent coverage of households. A further 30 locations are to be added by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G on 49 existing mobile phone masts are planned.

In order to be able to build new locations, Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or the property owners in order to be able to rent required areas. The German radio tower is responsible for the construction of Telekom's mobile communications locations. Telekom currently operates over 36,000 mobile phone locations and builds around 1,500 new locations every year.
