Improvement of mobile phone infrastructure in the Harz district: progress and its importance for the community

"The need for bandwidth is increasing and is currently around 30 percent per year. That is why we continue our mobile phone expansion with a high priority," explains Georg von Wagner, the company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom, the background to this expansion.

In order to further advance the expansion, Telekom plans to set up 56 additional locations in the region by 2026 and to expand 54 radio masts either to LTE or 5G. The company currently operates a total of 116 locations in the Harz district, which corresponds to an impressive budget coverage of around 99 percent. This development strategy shows how important telecommunications are for the daily quality of life of the citizens.

Deutsche Telekom, however, rely on cooperation with local municipalities and property owners in order to find necessary areas for new locations. This is a challenge that requires cross -community partnerships.
