Telekom has promoted mobile phone expansion in Schkopau and improved the supply by expanding a location with 5G. This leads to an extended mobile phone cover and an overall higher range in Schkopau. This also improves the reception in buildings. The location also plays an important role in the supply along the A38 motorway and the Halle-Erfurt railway lines.

In order to cover the increasing need for bandwidth, Telekom continues to focus on expanding mobile phone. According to Georg von Wagner, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom, the need increases by around 30 percent annually. It is therefore important to continuously promote the expansion.

Telekom currently operates 101 locations in the Saalekreis district, which achieves a budget coverage of around 98 percent. Another twelve locations are to be added by 2026. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned at 34 radio masts.

In order to achieve these goals, Telekom is dependent on cooperation with the municipalities or the owners in order to rent necessary areas for new locations. If the general conditions are correct, areas for roof or mast locations can be rented via the German radio tower. The German radio tower is responsible for the construction of the Telekom mobile phone locations. Telekom currently operates over 36,000 mobile phone locations and builds around 1,500 new locations every year.
