Telekom is expanding mobile phone supply in Hamburg: More coverage, bandwidth and reception

Telekom improves mobile phone supply in the urban area of ​​Hamburg

In the past two months, Telekom has significantly improved mobile phone supply in Hamburg. Due to the expansion of an LTE location and 15 new 5G locations, the cover has grown throughout the city. More bandwidth is now available and the reception in buildings has also improved. The new location for the supply along the A1 and A253 motorways as well as the railway routes Dortmund-Hamburg, Hamburg-Hannover, Hamburg-Puttgarden, Berlin-Hamburg, Hamburg-Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg.

Stefanie Halle, company spokeswoman at Deutsche Telekom, explains: "The need for range is constantly increasing - about 30 percent per year. That is why we continue to set speed when expanding the mobile phone network."

status and outlook

Telekom currently operates 608 mobile phone locations in the urban area of ​​Hamburg. The coverage of households is almost 100 percent. 103 other locations are to be added by 2025. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned at 444 other radio masts.

In order to be able to build new locations, Telekom needs cooperation with the municipalities and owners of land. Interested parties can contact the German radio tower, which operates the mobile phone locations for Telekom. More than 36,000 mobile communications locations are currently in operation, and the company is planning around 1,500 new locations every year.
