Telekom extends mobile phone supply and strengthens municipalities in the Vogtlandkreis district

In the district of Vogtlandkreis, residents can look forward to an improved mobile phone supply. Telekom has successfully expanded three locations in the district with 5G in the past two months, which leads to an increase in mobile phone coverage in the region and an improved range. The improvement in reception in buildings is particularly gratifying. The new locations are located in the municipalities of Elsterberg, Posseck and Plauen and serve the supply along the A4 and A9 motorways as well as the railway lines of Thuringia-West.

The increasing demand for bandwidth, which increases annually by around 30 percent annually, has caused Telekom to further advance mobile phone expansion. "The need for bandwidth is constantly increasing - around 30 percent per year. That is why we continue to pace in mobile phone expansion," says Georg von Wagner, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom.

Thanks to the expansion, Telekom is now operating 112 locations in the Vogtlandkreis district, which leads to an almost 100 percent budget cover. A further 40 locations are planned by 2026 to further improve the supply. In addition, extensions with LTE or 5G are planned at 43 radio masts.

Telekom, however, rely on working with the municipalities and property owners in order to rent areas for the new locations. If someone wants to rent an area for a roof or mast location, they can contact the German radio tower that operates the Telekom mobile phone locations. Telekom currently operates more than 36,000 mobile phone locations and is planning the construction of around 1,500 new locations annually.
