Telekom denies Höcke's claim - checks legal steps

Deutsche Telekom has rejected a statement by the AfD politician Björn Höcke about an alleged earlier advertising slogan of the company and is currently examining legal steps. During a TV duel with the CDU politician Mario Voigt at Welt on Thursday evening, the AfD top candidate for the state election in Thuringia claimed that Telekom had used the sentence "Everything for Germany" in the past as a promotion. A spokesman for the company said on Friday that this claim was wrong and that they check legal steps.

The said slogan "Everything for Germany" is a forbidden solution of the storm department (SA), the paramilitary fighting organization of the NSDAP. Due to the use of this slogan in a speech, Höcke will have to answer for himself in the coming week before the district court in Halle for the allegation of using indicators.

Telekom had already taken measures against AfD Federal Proterer Alice Weidel last year, after she also claimed that Telekom used to use the sentence in question as advertising slogan. Telekom asked Weidel to refrain from this claim, and it agreed to refrain from doing so in the future.

During the TV duel, Höcke defended his choice of words as a history teacher and claimed that during the speech he did not know that it was a SA slogan, since it was a "common saying". Telekom defends itself against incorrect statements about its past and uses legal steps to counter the correct information and to counteract possible calls to reputation.
