Stormchaos in Berlin and Brandenburg: trees fall, trains stand still!
Berlin, Deutschland - The Berlin and Brandenburg region will continue to be hit by a violent storm! There were numerous fire brigade operations on Sunday, while fallen trees significantly restricted regional traffic. The RE10 and RB43 rail lines are particularly affected, between Doberlug-Kirchhain and Falkenberg (Elster), where replacement bus traffic was set up because a tree blocked the tracks. The lines RE7 and other connections between Cottbus and Frankfurt (Oder) also failed to materialize due to storm damage. Deutsche Bahn informed about the current restrictions and the high wind speeds of up to 75 km/h, which are still forecast.
Over 105 missions due to the storm were reported in Brandenburg, including two seriously injured people in Trebbin and Blankenfelde-Mahlow, where massive trees fell on single-family houses. Fortunately, however, there were no personal injury. The fire brigade was also used over 40 times in Berlin, mainly due to fallen trees and falling parts. Further damage was reported in Ludwigsfelde, where a emergency vehicle was damaged by a tree. The German Weather Service warns of further storms and possible gusts of up to 80 km/h, while the temperatures are between 12 and 14 degrees. The weather conditions continue to be tense and the region has to expect further storms.
