Stormy New Year's Eve: Fire brigade is happy about lively wind in Berlin!

A stormy turn of the year is imminent for the Berliners! Like B.Z. , a low pressure area moves from Scotland towards southern Scandinavia and brings lively wind out of the southwest. The German Weather Service (DWD) warns that the wind gusts around New Year's Eve could reach wind speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour, which corresponds to wind strength 7. In the north of Brandenburg, gusts of wind force 8 are even possible. Meteorologist of the DWD explains the current situation: "The pressure differences ensure that we will have a very lively wind."

For the Berlin fire brigade, these weather forecasts are a bright spot. "This minimizes the risk of fires," says fire department spokesman Vinzenz Kasch in the ZDF "Morgenmagazin". The emergency services are happy about the uncomfortable weather because they have to expect a high number of fires on New Year's Eve. In addition, firecrackers were again set up in Berlin to increase security, even if it were best to do without fireworks after the fire brigade. "For example, we would be very happy about a central fireworks," continued Kasch, while the weather conditions are becoming increasingly stormy, as well as TAG24 reported.
