Strategies for electromobility: ZDK demands joint efforts in Berlin

A dramatic alarm call from the German automotive industry: electromobility is on the abyss! The sales figures for electric vehicles fell into the basement - and shocking 70 percent in August! ZDK President Arne Joswig leaves no doubt: "We need immediate and determined measures from politics and business to create the turn!" These urgent words were spoken to the Federal Minister of Economics on Monday, September 23, 2024 before the important crisis summit.

The abrupt end of the environmental bonus has devastating consequences for sales of electrical cars. Consumers are unsettled and show less interest in electric vehicles. But not only that: the urgently needed expansion of the charging infrastructure remains far behind the expectations. A worrying picture that screams almost for panic! The ZDK predicts that Germany could have 40 percent less loading points than necessary by 2030 - an alarming signal for the future of electromobility!

The unstoppable charging infrastructure crisis

Reality is shattering: instead of the promised one million charging points, only 600,000 could be available by 2030. This is a catastrophic lower cover! And that at European level? Even worse! At the current speed, Europe is threatening 60 percent, which means that instead of the planned 3.5 million charging points, only 1.5 million would be available. A total failure that can no longer be accepted!

To create the turn, the Central Association of German Motor Motor Show (ZDK) has developed a radical five-point program. The central demands are clear:

    Proper
  1. charging infrastructure, especially promote the so -called "lantern shop".
  2. charging current make it cheaper by reducing electricity tax and network charges.
  3. Free parking for electric vehicles in cities.
  4. further differentiate the company car tax according to drive types to promote BEV and PHEV.
  5. Insert the funding packages with KfW loans and temporary VAT editing for electric vehicles.
  6. The hope of consumers

"Customers can be enthusiastic about electromobility if the framework is correct," explains Joswig full of conviction. "We car dealers know how crucial the right framework is!" It is due to the industry to tackle these challenges and finally lead electromobility to success. The time to act is now!
