Steglitz-Zehlendorf e.V. invites you to travel to Poland 2024

The city partner association Steglitz-Zehlendorf e.V. invites travel to travel to the neighboring country of Poland for a trip to the neighboring country. From May 12th to 18th, 2024, the trip initially leads to the three southern Polish partner communities of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district before the last milestone is the historic royal city of Krakow.

The trip starts in Kazimierz Dolny, a Renaissance city that is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. The next stop is Poniatowa, where the participants will visit the memorial of the Jews murdered by the National Socialists during the "Harvest Festival" campaign. In Naleczów, the participants can expect a detailed city tour in the health resort, the third and last stop in the visiting series of the partner cities.

The tourist highlight of the trip is to visit the historic old town of Krakow. The participants can look forward to the Wawelburg, the former residence of the Polish kings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cathedral on the Wawel is the burial lay of most kings, archbishops and some national heroes in Poland. The historical Jewish district of Kazimierz rounds off the program.

The provisional travel program and a registration form have been published on the website of the association. Interested parties are asked to register bindingly up to and including January 31, 2024.

The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district celebrated its 30th anniversary with the three Polish communities last year. The partnership contracts were concluded on August 28, 1993 by the former Steglitz district.

The partnership between the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district and the Polish partner communities has led to a lively exchange at cultural, economic and social level in recent years. The trip offers the participants a unique opportunity to get to know the partner cities up close and to deepen the cultural exchange.
