Protests against right-wing extremism: AfD ban now required!
On May 22, 2025, numerous demonstrations against right -wing extremism, hatred, anti -Semitism and agitation will continue to take place in Germany. - Berlin: Several events in the first three weeks of the month, including a large demonstration against the AfD at the Brandenburg Gate.
- Lower Saxony: Hildesheim and Bassum are among the cities with active protests.
- North Rhine-Westphalia: Especially in Bochum and Detmold are organized on May 1st, and other days, protest actions.
The protests are a direct reaction to the radicalizing tendencies within the AfD. Tagesschau reported that the AfD was classified as "secured right-wing extremist endeavor" in May, which the party contested legally. Political voices such as those of Greens boss Felix Banaszak support the demands for a ban.

CDU general secretary Carsten Linnemann expressed a skepticism about a possible prohibition procedure and described it as "politically highly dangerous".
