Open air cinema with empowerment: strong girls* celebrate on September 20th!

Next Saturday, September 20, 2025, will be dedicated to a special open-air cinema evening aimed specifically at young people aged 13 to 27. Organized by the mobile youth work (MoWo) team of the Neighborhood House Wannseebahn e.V. association, the event begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Schottenburg youth leisure facility, located at Brittendorfer Weg 16 B in Berlin. A highlight of the evening is the live act from “MC Basstett”, which will perform at 6:15 p.m., followed by the film starting at 7:30 p.m.

The motto of the evening is “Strong Girls* I Coming of Age I Empowerment” and is complemented by creative offerings. A creative station allows participants to print their own statement bags. Homemade pizza will provide your physical well-being, and the event will be part of the “Take Care!” project. funded by the Berlin State Commission against Violence. If you have any questions, you can contact the MoWo team directly at the email address mowo@wsba.de or visit the Instagram accounts @mobileswohnzimmer and @basstett_mc.

Cheers to diversity

In addition, an American coming-of-age drama will be presented as part of another open-air cinema event, which thematically deals with overcoming prejudices and realizing dreams. This event is aimed at both young people and adults, and viewers can look forward to an exciting panel discussion that will take place before the film. The film can be seen from 8:00 p.m. in the Ulme35 garden, where visitors can take a seat in deck chairs. If weather conditions are unfavorable, the film will be shown in the lecture hall.

The stories and themes of these films aim to inspire and make viewers think. The cinematic accompaniment of an intelligent and imaginative young person who is underestimated due to prejudice promises to offer an impressive experience. To optimize your visit, it is recommended to reserve a seat via the website, and you can bring your own headphones for use at the adjacent seat.

Promotion and collaboration

These cinema evenings are supported by the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf Cultural Advisory Board, which underlines the importance and positive response of such events. The cooperation between Marlon Schwarze and the barrier-free leisure team at the University of Potsdam as well as the organizer Ulme35 also shows the commitment to an inclusive culture.
