New leisure oasis opened: fun and sport for the whole family!
Lissabonallee, 14165 Berlin, Deutschland - The newly designed leisure and sports facility on the site of the youth training center (JAZ) in Lisbonallee celebrated its official opening on April 10, 2025. On this occasion, many guests, including the youth councilor Carolina Böhm and environmental city council, Urban Aykal were on site to take a look at the new offers. The opening at 4 p.m. marked the conclusion of a comprehensive redesign that lasted from October 2022 to April 2025.
For the investment of around 842,500 euros, not only the sports facilities were restored, but also measures to promote biodiversity and the establishment of new sporting offers. Particularly noteworthy are the multifunctional small play area, a wall area, a bouldering wall and a calisthenics system artistically designed by the AG Graffiti SZ and the youth leisure facility Schottenburg, which is equipped with stretching rods and sprout walls.
diverse movement offers for all age groups
The new leisure offer is aimed at children, young people and the older generation. For example, a boule railway is available, which is particularly popular with older fellow citizens, while the basketball field and the hilly area are eagerly used by children. A pump track and a climbing wall also expand the sporting experience.
The system not only offers space for sports, but also new living areas with benches and a shadow roof, which offer the opportunity to relax and rest. According to the reports from [berlin.de] (https://www.berlin.de/ba-Steglitz-Zehlendorf/aktuelles/pressemaytungen/2025/Pressemage department.
participation and biodiversity in focus
special attention was paid to the participation of the people who live in the area. A participation process with children, young people and the neighborhood ensured that the range of sports meets the needs of the users. The urban representatives underlined the importance of biodiversity during the opening. Planted trees and perennials serve as a source of food for insects, which benefits the environment and promotes a natural habitat.
With the new leisure facility, the citizens of Steglitz-Zehlendorf have a variety of ways to do sports and enjoy nature. The positive response already shows that the redesign is a complete success and contributes to the revival of the quarter. The next steps of completion will continue to be accompanied by the responsible bodies to ensure that all areas of the system can be used optimally.
