Concert of the Leo-Borchard music school in the Zehlendorf Citizens' Hall

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 5 p.m., a special concert by the Leo Borchard Music School will take place in the Zehlendorf Citizens' Hall. Pupils from the Leo Borchard Music School Steglitz-Zehlendorf make music together with their Spanish guests from the Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrent from the Valencia region. The program includes works by Vicente Martín y Soler, Eduard Tolddrà and Benjamin Britten. This musical project is organized as part of an Erasmus exchange, which also provides for a teaching folk heroism of a second Spanish music school.

The concert in the Zehlendorf Citizens' Hall would not only want to commemorate the birthday of its namesake, but also to celebrate the European idea, overcome national borders and the connecting element of music. Leo Borchard was both a resistance fighter and the conductor and was particularly committed to cultural communication in Europe. On Easter Sunday he would have turned 125 this year.

The Leo Borchard Music School Steglitz-Zehlendorf is a renowned music school in Berlin, which offers a variety of musical offers for students of all ages. Through international collaborations such as the Erasmus exchange with the Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrent, the pupils are offered the opportunity to look outside the box and to experience cultural diversity.

The following table includes some information about the Spanish composers Vicente Martín y Soler and Eduard Toldrà:

| Composer | Date of birth | Date of Death | Known for |
| ——————— | --———— | --———————————————— | Vicente Martín y Soler | 1754 | 1806 | Opera compositions |
| Eduard Tolddrà | 1895 | 1962 | Orchestral works and chamber music |

This concert event is not only a musical highlight, but also a significant cultural encounter between German and Spanish musicians. It shows how music can combine people across nations and how important international cooperation is in the cultural field.
