Conservation regulations adopted: protection against rent increases in Steglitz-Zehlendorf

The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office on February 10, 2024 carried out the last step to issue three social maintenance regulations in the district. The ordinances for the preservation of the composition of the resident population have been published in the Law and Ordinance Blat of Berlin and have thus obtained their legal binding. The affected areas are the "Feuerbachstraße", "Gritznerstraße Nord" and "Mittelstraße". In these areas, structural measures or property conversion projects must be approved by the urban development office.

The measures should prevent avoidable rent increases through structural revaluation in order to obtain inexpensive living space. Therefore, for example, the installation of high -quality apartment equipment and housing compilations are prohibited. This serves to reduce the pressure of the existing tenants.

District City Councilor Steinhoff emphasizes the importance of dealing with the current rental situation in Steglitz-Zehlendorf and emphasizes that affordable living must be ensured for all citizens. Milieschutz is intended to secure an orderly urban development in the affected areas in the long term.

The district office offers owners and builders in the milieu protection areas and strongly recommends that they take advantage of them when planning structural projects.
