Berlin is facing the climate crisis: Free Volkshochschul course 'Klimafit'

The climate crisis has long since arrived on our doorstep. Many people in flooded regions of Germany have recently experienced this up close. Frequent heavy rain events, droughts or constant rain and more and more hot days are now part of everyday life. But how can Berlin prepare against the consequences of the climate crisis? How to implement climate protection measures on the doorstep? Knowledge conveys the “Klimafit” adult education course. From April 10, citizens can continue their training to make Berlin together more climate -friendly.

On six course evenings-four in presence and two online-interested parties learn more about the climate protection management of Steglitz-Zehlendorf and how they can participate. You will learn the causes of the climate crisis from global to the regional to the local level and also learn what you can do about it in your environment. The course participants have the opportunity to exchange ideas with leading climate scientists, regional and local experts and initiatives.

The free training course is aimed at all those who want to advance climate protection. The participants are already starting in the course: The “Klimafit” challenge shows how they can save CO2 emissions through everyday behavioral changes, for example when eating, heating or in traffic. But also in the area of ​​politics and finances, climate -protecting measures can be used. B. through the active participation of citizens or petitions, but also through climate -protecting investments. All of this contributes to a necessary and transformative change in society in times of the climate crisis. After successfully participating in the "Klimafit" course, the course participants receive their "Klimafit" certificate, which they distinguish them as a multiplier for municipal climate protection.
