Berlin plants twelve trees against climate change - Lilienthal -Gymnasium provides schoolchildren for tree planting.
On Thursday, November 9, 2023, students from the Lilienthal-Gymnasium together with a tree maintenance company, under the guidance of employees of the street and green space office, twelve Erlen in the Zehlendorfer Erlenbusch. District City Councilor Urban Aykal, responsible for green spaces, environment and nature conservation, will be included in this campaign.
When planting these four -meter -high trees, the pupils learn how to plant a tree professionally and what to consider: from lifting the plant hole to the tree binding with coconut knit to the casting ring.
With the campaign, students are sensitized to the topics of climate change and climate adjustment. At the same time, identification with public green is strengthened.
As early as autumn 2021, around 140 pupils with teachers planted 500 beech seedlings in the green area of the community forest in Berlin Zehlendorf. These trees were financed by donations from the parents. Much of them have grown and ensures a rejuvenation of the tree population in the municipal ward.
