Exciting DFB Cup opening games: cup sensations and regional derbies

Unterföhring, August 14, 2023-The first round of the DFB Cup is imminent and for the Bundesliga clubs this also marks their first competitive game of the 2024/2025 season. Which team stumbles over a subclass opponent? Which supposed outsider ensures a large cup surprise? This season Sky broadcasts all 63 games of the competition live, 48 of them exclusively. The games can be followed either as individual games or in the exclusive original Sky conferences. Thus, fans can only see all games of their heart club live at Sky.

In the early Friday evening, the football fans await a neighborhood duel between Wehen Wiesbaden and FSV Mainz 05. It promises to be a short journey and an exciting derby between friends.

On Saturday afternoon, the third division team Rot-Weiss Essen competes against RB Leipzig, while Borussia Dortmund travels to the 1st FC Phönix Lübeck with her new head coach Nuri Sahin.

On Sunday, Hertha BSC competes with Hansa Rostock and Fortuna Düsseldorf is guest at Dynamo Dresden. Eintracht Braunschweig and Eintracht Frankfurt on Monday evening.

However, not only the DFB Cup is broadcast live, but also the game between Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart around the DFL Supercup. This top game will be broadcast live by Sky on Saturday evening and also offered to UHD/HDR.

In addition, Sky Sport offers the live broadcast of the first main round in the DFB Cup of women between FSV Gütersloh and 1. FC Union Berlin. After the game follows the draw of the second round, in which Verena Schweers acts as Losfee and Renate Lingor as a drawing manager.
