Southern Park Festival enthusiastic: Thousands celebrate sports and pleasure in Spandau!

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Südpark experienced a hustle and bustle at the traditional south park festival, which attracted numerous visitors from Spandau and the surrounding area. In bright sunshine, those present enjoyed an extensive program that not only offered sporting challenges, but also many hands -on activities for the whole family. This event was organized by various Spandau clubs and youth leisure facilities, which together ensured an unforgettable experience.

The participants were able to test their skills in activities such as wind tube shooting and sword fighting and demonstrate their skill on bouncy castles and a ninja warrior course. A graffiti course as well as a lovingly staged stage show with varied performances and workshops ensured a good mood and entertainment. All of this contributed to the fact that the festival was a popular starting point for families.

ceremonial honor and sporting competitions

After the warm greeting of the guests by Dr. Carola Brückner, who is responsible for education, culture, sports and facility management, and the district mayor Frank Werbig, there was a special honor. The glory stone in honor of Anja Kosan, this outstanding rhythmic sports gymnast and Spandaus athlete of 2023, was solemnly unveiled on the Walk of Fame of Spandau Sport.

Following the ceremony, district mayor Werwig again invited to the popular competition “Schlag the district mayor”. Particularly talented young basketball players had the opportunity to show their skills on the basketball field. The best were rewarded with tickets for Alba and a signed basketball of professional players-a very welcome surprise for the young talents.

a successful summer closing

The Südparkfest, which is regularly organized by the school and sports office, also receives support from the district sports association Spandau and the sports children Berlin. This year the event was again a great success, which not only presented the performance of local sport, but was also able to strengthen the sense of community in Spandau. Dr. Brückner particularly showed the diversity and cohesion of the Spandau clubs: "Every year the Südparkfest offers us a great framework to show the Spandau citizens the range of the Spandau sports. I am pleased that this time again so many different clubs and leisure facilities have participated in the design of the family sports festival. A really successful end of summer!"
