Spandau strengthens violence prevention with a new prevention report

The Spandau district government recently published the prevention report 2024, which offers comprehensive inventory on conflicts and violence in the district. The report was created by the Camino workshop, which is supported by the Berlin Working Center Violence Prevention on behalf of the State Commission Berlin against violence. Funding was carried out by means of the neighborhood and crime prevention of the Senate Administration. District Mayor Frank Werwig praised the commitment and expertise that flowed into the development of the report.

The prevention report shows that Spandau has grown faster in recent years than Berlin as a whole. After the end of Corona pandemic, the violence in the district increased noticeably, especially in regions such as Spandau Mitte, the Falkenhagener Feld or Heerstrasse, the complex problems. The report emphasizes an increased quota in relation to domestic and gender -specific violence and offers detailed data on youth violence and violent offenses as a whole.

Short profiles for all nine Spandau regions are available that summarize statistical data on violence and crime. These offer experts and interested citizens an overview of the social rooms and complement existing reporting procedures. In order to strengthen prevention in Spandau, the prevention report also contains needs to be assessed by specialist practice and presents a digital survey tool through which specialist players and interested parties can take part in the further development of the prevention offers.

A conference on violence prevention is planned for July 10th, 2024 in the Westerwaldstraße Clubhaus, in which the results of the survey are to be assessed and discussed with specialist practice.
