Spandau receives Ashdoder delegation: a partnership in focus

In a world in which international relationships are of great importance, a visit to a delegation from the Israeli twin town of Aschdod in Spandau shows that town twinning can have far -reaching positive effects on the community. From September 9th to 11th, 2024, Mayor Yehiel Lasri was a guest in Spandau together with Vice Mayor Shimon Katznelson and the consultant for foreign affairs, Aryella Rosenthal.

The origins of this city partnership go back to 1968. This long -term connection has promoted the exchange between cultures and contributes to creating a deeper understanding of the different ways of life and traditions. District Mayor Frank Werbig, who visited the delegation in Aschdod in May, has high hopes for the future development of this partnership.

"The partnership between Spandau and Aschdod is more than just a formal relationship," said Worken. "It is an important pillar of our international cooperation that helps us to promote fraternity and respect between the peoples." These words underline the central role that such city twinning plays in today's world.

The delegation was received with numerous activities during its visit, which offered an insight into the cultural and social life of Spandau. The guests took part in a tour of the historical citadel and visited the memorial on the banks of the Linden. Such places are significant because they represent the history and the challenges of the past.

Another highlight was the exchange with the "Medical Regiment 1 leadership area Berlin" of the Bundeswehr. These discussions were a way to deepen the military-humanitarian relationships between the countries. The tour of the Florida ice cream factory and a meeting with the ruling mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, were part of the program, which clarified the versatility of the visit.

In addition, future projects are planned to further intensify the contact between people from Aschdod and Spandau. Planned student and sports exchange programs should not only bring together children and adolescents, but also their families and communities.
