Record -suspect Spandau sports ceremony 2024: More title bearers than ever before

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the traditional Spandau athletic ceremony took place, in which more than 650 successful athletes from Spandau clubs were honored. These athletes won various titles at Berlin Championships, German Championships or even international competitions last year. This number of successful athletes was more high than ever.

The district councilor for education, culture, sport and facility management, Dr. Carola Brückner praised the achievements of the athletes and emphasized how proud she was on their success. She also emphasized the commitment of the sports clubs, which contributed significantly to success.

In addition to the Berlin and German masters, 43 athletes were also awarded international titles. The event was rounded off by a musical and sporting supporting program, a raffle and culinary delights. The highlight was the “athlete of 2023”: the rhythmic gymnast Anja Kosan received the title for her achievements, including the silver medal at the 2023 World Cup and the qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She was also honored for her success with a fame stone on the Walk of Fame of Spandauer Sports.

Unfortunately, Anja Kosan was unable to personally accept the award, as she took part in the Rhythmic Gymnasics World Cup in Athens. However, she thanked a video message for the appreciation of her services.

The event was made possible by the support of numerous partners from Berlin and Spandau. For further information and feedback, Ms. Jäde, responsible for press and public relations in the school and sports office, is available.
