New youth club Spandour Jugendpoint opened: Meeting point for Spandauer!
A new meeting point for young people, the "Spandour Jugendpoint", was opened in Spandau. Frank Lobig, the district mayor, together with youth district councilor Tanja Franzke and Connie MacFarlane, the marketing manager of the Spandau Arcaden, today gave the starting signal for this project. The aim is to offer young people in the heart of Spandau a contact point where they can find out and exchange ideas. The place is intended to make the diverse leisure opportunities for children and young people in the area better accessible.
The shopping center provides the rooms of the "Spandour Jugendpoint" on the first floor free of charge. The responsibility for the design and support lies in the youth welfare office's youth development and local youth welfare agents. "The 'Spandour Jugendpoint' is another important step to offer young people in Spandau new rooms and possibilities," emphasized Luver in his opening speech.
space for creativity and exchange
The new premises are colorful and designed in graffiti style, which immediately conveys a feeling of creativity and cohesion. With a chill lounge, free WiFi and several charging stations for smartphones, an inviting environment that attracts young ideas is created. An important feature is the "Youth Club Locator" card, which shows where the various leisure activities are in Spandau.
"The Spandau Arcaden are a popular meeting place for young people. In cooperation with the committed providers of youth work, we want to expand the opportunities for children and young people in Spandau," explained Franzke. Their vision is to actively address young people who have not yet accepted any offers and to provide them with a space in which they can feel comfortable.
The opening times of the youth club are limited - on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - but offer an interesting change for young people after school or on days off. In addition, trained educators are on site who not only provide young people, but also serve as a trusting contact.
Another innovative aspect of the "Spandour Jugendpoint" is the "Laberecke for Two", a protected space for confidential discussions. In this way, the young people can address their challenges and worries in a safe environment. McFarlane was positive about the new meeting point, which is a unique offer for the youthful target group. "Young people can not only discover current leisure activities here, but also speak casually about their concerns," said the marketing manager.
The concept draft for the youth club was developed in a targeted manner as part of a participation event, in which around 40 specialists from child and youth welfare were included. This ensures that the needs of young people not only hear, but also actively flow into the design of the offer.
This initiative makes an important contribution to promoting social Integration and leisure activities for young people in Spandau. Details on this project also on www.berlin.de
