Heerstrasse is renewed: full closure from October 11th to 14th
Attention, drivers! A hot renovation plan for Heerstrasse is just around the corner! From October 11, 2024, Heerstrasse between Gatower Straße and Wilhelmstrasse will be completely closed for about three days. It is not just patched up here, but the roadway receives a comprehensive rejuvenation cure that will remain anything but unnoticed!
City Councilor Thorsten Schatz has found clear words:
"The full closure over a distance of approx. 350 m means challenges for traffic, but our goal is to modernize the area of 4,500 m² quickly and efficiently. The residents and road users will benefit in the long term from a new, robust road cover."
The details of the construction site
What exactly is done here? The renovation work includes the milling of the existing asphalt binder layer and asphalt cover layer, followed by a new, stable stable cover layer made of split mastixasphalt with a thickness of approx. 4.00 cm and a solid asphalt binder layer of approx. 8.00 cm. Only the concrete surface on the bus stop remains untouched.
Attention to all road users! The detour is a must: During the full closure, traffic west from Heerstrasse via Gatower Straße and Brunsbütteler Damm is led. In contrast, you have to adapt your route via Magistratweg and Brunsbütteler Damm.
But that's not all! The BVG lets your buses stand still in this area of Heerstrasse. The popular lines M 49 and X 49 will no longer be able to stop at the usual stops during the construction period. But don't panic! Inside the stop in Wilhelmstraße is approached as a replacement, while the stop on Gatower Straße becomes the new contact point out of the city.
These comprehensive work are part of the special program for road renovation, which was initiated by the Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection. A clear step towards better transport infrastructure!
