Red alarm level in Spandau! The district administration is ready to tackle neighborhood -oriented violence and crime. The job for violence prevention, diversity and anti -discrimination is based on a strong funding program that will tackle selected projects against violence with funds from the Berlin State Commission. The focus is particularly on socially disadvantaged city quarters, where the risk of blooming is very threatened.

These funds should not only help, but also interventively intervenes! The new funding guidelines that are currently in the power highlight several explosive points. Spandau focuses on the mild challenges of our time:

  • globalization and neighborhoods: Violence prevention in a world conflict environment should help to secure solidarity neighborhoods.
  • Digital threats: turn the mills of the Internet! Here prevention against digital violence, including hatred and disinformation, is imperative.
  • gender violence: The focus is on the prevention of gender-specific and lgbtiq-anti-violence in all their terrible facets.
  • youth in sight: but also their behavior in public space is to be tested - what is going wrong?

It is still unclear how much money will flow exactly to Spandau's account. A basic funding of around 150,000 euros is in the room, but that has not yet been carved in stone.

Attention the applicant! Anyone who submits the application for funding by letter post by October 31, 2024 has the chance of support. The Spandau Violence Prevention Council decides which projects can ultimately ask the state commission for funds.
