Drama at the season finale: HSG Dutenhofen/Münchholzhausen loses 33:37!

The HSG Dutenhofen/Münchholzhausen had to surrender in her season finale of the 3rd division South-West. In the duel against TV Kirchzell, the team of coach Axel Spandau lost 33:37 (16:19). This was particularly disappointing because Spandau had wished for a goodbye to say goodbye. The defensive performance of the HSG was particularly weak during the encounter that took place in front of 350 spectators. With 37 goals conceded, they set up the defeat of the season, apart from a previous defeat (18:39 against HSG Krefeld Niederrhein).

The HSG Dutenhofen/Münchholzhausen had acted promising at the beginning of the game. Phillip Opitz, Nico Scheibel and Lukas Gümbel quickly ensured a 9: 6 lead. But after a break, the TV Kirchzell found better into the game, scored an impressive 1: 7 run and went into half time with a lead of three goals. After the break, the gap grew to 18:24 (40th minute), despite a last fight in which the HSG came up to 28:30 (53rd minute), the defensive remained unstable.

The relegation battle and the league developments

Despite the defeat, TSG Haßloch remains in the league because its defeat (27:36 against HSG Hanau) did not lead to a descent. This is mainly due to the fact that TV Aldekerk lost to HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden (28:35). While the HSG Dutenhofen/Münchholzhausen will stay in the 3rd league in the coming season, TV Korschenbroich and VTV Mundenheim will have to start a walk into the lower leagues.

The new relay allocations for the 2024/25 season of the 3rd league were recently finalized. The German Handball Association has revised the structure and the new season begins on the weekend of August 31st/1. September 2024.
