District office Spandau checks the introduction of milieu protection areas in four areas
new survey to preserve neighborly structures in Spandau
At the end of summer, a household survey begins in four different areas in the Spandau district of Berlin to preserve the social character of the residential areas. The areas "Germersheimer Platz", "Freiheit", "Rudolf Wissel-Grosssiedlung" and "Rohrdamm/Siemensdamm" could in future be placed under the protection of a social conservation regulation, also known as the milieu protection area. The goal is to protect the existing resident population from repression by expensive modernizations or conversions.
The S.T.E.R.N. GmbH transferred to the careful urban renewal. City Councilor Thorsten Schatz emphasizes the importance of participation of the residents in this survey in order to create the basis for the possible introduction of milieu protection areas and to strengthen social cohesion in the quarters.
The questionnaire aims to collect important information about the living situation, the rental costs, renovations and the use of the local infrastructure. The anonymous data is evaluated in accordance with the Berlin Data Protection Act and serve to obtain a comprehensive image of the respective residential areas.
The residents have the opportunity to fill out the questionnaires by August 23, 2024 either by post or online in German or English. All information collected should help make sound decisions that protect the social structure of the Spandau residential area.
