Dubai has been flooding the heaviest rains for 75 years

The heaviest rains have occurred in the United Arab Emirates for decades, which flooded parts of Dubai. According to the Center for Meteorology, the most intense precipitation has been for 75 years, especially in the east near the border with Oman. Due to the extreme weather conditions, schools, government institutions and companies in Abu Dhabi were asked to learn and work from home. Dubai Airport reported considerable disorders, flights were either late or redirected.

The Dubai International Airport, one of the largest airports in the world with 87 million passengers in the previous year, had to temporarily hire the check-in for passengers from the state airline Emirates because raining lanes were flooded. Videos on social media showed how cars were in the floods on expressways, which led to a traffic light. Some drivers decided to leave their vehicles back and walk on on foot, as mentioned in a report by the newspaper "The National". The Center for Meteorology warned the population against entering flooded areas.

After the severe rains in the Emirates, media reports were killed at least one man whose car was torn away by the flood. In the neighboring Oman, at least 18 people lost their lives due to the violent precipitation. It should be mentioned that the Emirates were hosting the World Climate Conference Cop28 in Dubai last year.
