Heavy thunderstorms over Berlin and Brandenburg: fire brigades in action

An unusually strong thunderstorm pulled over Berlin and Brandenburg and ensured considerable operations by the fire brigade. Keller ran full of water, branches cracked under strong winds and streets were partly under water. Fortunately, the damage remained limited. The Berlin fire brigade warned the population not to stay outdoors in such weather conditions and recommended that wind to close and secure loose objects.

The forecast for further storms

The German Weather Service warned of up to 40 liters per square meter and gusts of wind up to 90 kilometers per hour for the Potsdam area. In the northeast of Brandenburg, too, gusts of wind and heavy rain were forecast, accompanied by possible hailstorms. The temperatures should reach up to 31 degrees when the weather is warm, with other showers and thunderstorms during the night and the following Thursday.

On Thursday it will be a maximum of 29 degrees warm in weak wind, thunderstorms could occur again. At the weekend, changeable weather is expected in summer temperatures just below 30 degrees.
