On Friday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on Sonnenallee in Berlin-Neukölln. Passers -by reported that there was a loud bang around 6.45 p.m. and luxury cars drove towards Hermannplatz at high speed. Suddenly a Mercedes G-Class with 421 hp (new price from 145,000 euros) got off to the right of the road.
The car rammed at least two traffic signs, ran over a bicycle stand and finally crashed into a massive road tree. With the impact, a stopping shield pierced the windscreen and penetrated the passenger compartment. According to initial findings, three people were injured, one of them seriously. Two of the injured were taken to the hospital.
About 15 meters from the scene of the accident stood an Audi R8 with considerable rear damage, which may have been rammed by the Mercedes driver. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the Audi driver braked before he was hit by the luxury car. At the affected area of Sonnenallee, a top speed of 30 km/h.
The Berlin police started investigations on site. The Sonnenallee was completely blocked from Wildenbruchstrasse in the direction of Hermannplatz. The M41 bus line was also affected by the blocking.
Images of the accident show the fire brigade on the accident fee and the traffic sign, which bored through the windscreen into the interior of the Mercedes.
