Fast network for fast trains: New mobile radio station closes radio hole on Berlin-Halle railway line

A new mobile phone location in Nuthe-Urstromtal closes the radio hole along the railway line from Berlin to Halle. Vodafone has put a new location into operation along this route with LTE and 5G+-capable antennas to ensure high bandwidths, fast response times and reliable data transmission. This mobile phone expansion is part of the “Fast network for fast trains” cooperation between Vodafone and Deutsche Bahn, which was started in 2022. This measure benefits all ICE and IC passengers along one of the most important long-distance traffic routes.

Stable mobile phone supply is indispensable for rail travelers to use their smartphone on the way. With the expansion of the mobile phone supply along the train rails, mobile communication and work will work faster and without interruption. The goal of cooperation between Vodafone and Deutsche Bahn is to supply particularly heavily frequented train routes with a complete LTE mobile network by 2025. Vodafone will also activate its 5G+network on Germany's ICE routes by 2025. 160 additional mobile radio stations are built and around 1,000 modernization measures are carried out.
