Schindler is building the first Flexpoint for environmentally friendly elevator service at Berlin Gesundbrunnen station
The Berlin Health Traffic station is the focus of an exciting new project by Schindler Germany. In cooperation with the DB Smart City Initiative, the company has built its first “Flexpoint”. This service container enables Schindler elevator technicians to carry out their service inserts more efficiently and environmentally friendly.
Instead of conventional vehicles, the technicians now drive with cargobics to over 100 elevator systems near the Flexpoint. This enables a significant reduction in traffic and CO2 emissions. At the same time, customers are served faster. Stefan Janßen, Management Service & Repairs at Schindler Germany AG & Co. KG, emphasizes the importance of the project for the company: “With the start of the FlexPoint project, we relieve urban traffic, reduce our CO2 footprint and at the same time ensure that our customers are served quickly. The project is an important step towards even more sustainability and future-oriented mobility Downtown. “
The FlexPoint project is supported by the DB Smart City and everyone involved. Michael Eckenweber, Head of DB Smart Cities, explains: “DB Smart Cities is working on solutions for a sustainable city. We focus on establishing intelligent and environmentally friendly products that make traveling by train more attractive. The location at the train station offers the Microdepot a central turntable for storing and further distribution. Schindler. “
The combination of the FlexPoint and the manufacturer Citcar's cargobics enables technicians to work more efficiently and environmentally friendly. The cargobics are light and quiet and can bypass traffic jams. They may be parked on sidewalks without hindering passers -by. This eliminates the annoying search for parking space, and the technicians can do their service missions faster. The required spare parts are located directly in cargobics, and packaging material and garbage can be disposed of on site.
The Flexpoint at Berlin Gesundbrunnen station is the first of its kind. As a pilot project, it serves to gain experience and identify optimization potential. Another location at Charlottenburg's S-Bahn station is to be opened in the summer of 2024. The Flexpoint project from Schindler Germany is another milestone on the way to sustainable mobility. Schindler has already started switching his vehicle fleet to e-mobility, and this new service container for cargobics is another step in this direction. The company thus actively contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.
The FlexPoint at Berlin Gesundbrunnen station is an example of how innovative solutions can help promote sustainable urban mobility. By using cargobics, traffic is reduced and CO2 emissions reduced. At the same time, customers are served faster. The FlexPoint project is a promising pilot project that will hopefully inspire further sustainable initiatives in the future.
