Rail replacement and route closures: Construction and modernization work affects rail traffic in Berlin

Berlin: Restrictions on rail traffic on several routes

This weekend there are several S-Bahn lines and regional traffic. The reason for this is construction and modernization work.

On the ring railway lines S41 and S42, partial closures occur from Friday evening to Monday morning. The route is interrupted between the S-Bahn stations Gesundbrunnen and Beusselstraße. Buses are used as replacement traffic, as the S-Bahn Berlin reports on Twitter [1]. The block remains until Monday, 1:30 a.m. The lines S1 and S8 between the Frohnau and Oranienburg as well as Blankenburg and Birkenwerder are also affected. The construction work has been ongoing here since July 12 and will also continue until Monday, 1:30 a.m. Here, too, replacement traffic on buses is offered [1].

The S5 line is also affected by construction work. The stop at the Hegermühle train station will be complete until Monday, 1:30 a.m. Instead, a replacement bus traffic between Strausberg and Strausberg Stadt is set up [1].

The restrictions on rail traffic of the S3 between Erkner and Friedrichshagen even last until August 28th. On weekends, the S-Bahn only runs every 10 minutes. Here too, construction work is the reason for the restrictions [1].

In addition, the regional trains of the RE6 line between Hennigsdorf and Berlin-Charlottenburg will fail on Sunday between 6:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. There is replacement traffic with buses between Hennigsdorf and Berlin-Spandau. Commuters are asked to switch to local public transport [1].

The exact travel times and information on rail replacement are available on the websites of the transport companies.
