Russia's warning before stationing US weapons in Germany
In an alarming statement, the Russian ambassador in Germany, Sergej Netschajew, warned the German government of the serious consequences of a planned stationing of US weapon systems in the country from 2026. Netschajew emphasized the risk of a further escalation of the tensions between Moscow and Berlin and warned against the possible effect of such a step overall.
The announcement that US weapons in Germany are to be stationed for the first time since the Cold War in 2026 caused concern and criticism from Russia. Netschajew warned of a armed arms, uncontrolled confrontations and emphasized the possible irreparable damage to German-Russian relationships.
The Russian ambassador in the USA, Anonow, also made it clear that the stationing of American rocket base points in Germany is perceived as a direct threat to Moscow. He warned of the destabilizing effects of such measures on international security and emphasized Russia's limited tolerance towards security provocations.
The planned stationing includes Tomahawk's type of Tomahawk, SM-6 Aviation Marriage missiles and new overs sound weapons that are intended to strengthen NATO allies in Europe. However, the beginning of this measure is only planned for the US presidential election in the coming year, which means that a possible new president could reverse the decision.
With a view to the increasing tension after the Russian attack war against Ukraine and Moscow aggressive behavior towards NATO and EU countries, the deployment of US weapons in Germany remains a controversial topic that could further burden the relationships between the countries involved.
