Pension insurance versus Berlin: A fatal signal effect - comment from Peter Schink
"Berliner Morgenpost: The effects of pension insurance claims"
The current claims of the pension insurance to the state of Berlin have far-reaching effects on the Corona vaccination teams there. The pension insurance claims that all assistants in 2020 were bogus self -employed and must now be insured afterwards. This includes health insurance contributions, pension insurance, unemployment insurance and long -term care insurance. Berlin, however, rejects these accusations as complete nonsense and plans legal steps against these measures.
At that time, the legislation had released doctors and pharmacists from the obligation to provide social security, which now leads to confusion and conflicts. The deflection of other important helpers in the vaccination centers was apparently overlooked. The need for social security obligation is undisputed, but exceptions should be carefully checked and justified.
Although there are only 350 cases that have to be insured in Berlin subsequently, this shows the inflexibility and the bureaucratic effort that this measure causes. Pension insurance should enable more flexibility in such minor cases in order to simplify the process and to be better react to unforeseen situations.
The effects of these demands are fatal and send a wrong signal to all helpers and volunteers who are spontaneously willing to provide support in times of crises. Instead of rewarding commitment and quick action, they are restricted by bureaucratic obstacles. It is time to look for better solutions and more flexible use of such situations.
