Future plans for Berlin Centers: First central summit determines measures

On Monday, the first center of the center took place in Berlin, to which the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Companies as well as the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living had invited. District Councilor Korinna Stephan (B'90/Greens) and representatives of the district economic development agency, Senator Franziska Giffey, Senator Christian Gaebler (both SPD) and other representatives from various areas were present. The focus of the meeting was on Gorkistraße and the entire area in Tegel, one of the twelve selected centers that are the focus of the upcoming measures.

The Reinickendorf district has already taken steps to strengthen the centers, including through a retail concept and feasibility studies for Heinsestrasse and Alt-Tegel. The support programs presented aim to establish location communities and implement measures to strengthen the centers.

District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Senate, districts, business and associations in order to make the centers sustainable. District Councilor Stephan emphasized how important living and attractive centers are for the districts and how the funding programs can specifically respond to the needs on site.

During the center cup, existing measures and funding programs were discussed in order to improve the local infrastructure, to promote the mix of use and to promote digitization in retail. The newly founded "Taskforce Center" will coordinate the process and support the exchange between those involved.

In the following table, more information about the twelve selected centers is listed:

| District | Center | Strengthening measures |
