VHS Reinickendorf starts with free trial courses in 21 languages!
The adult education center (VHS) Reinickendorf announced today that it will start with a variety of new courses in all program areas in fall 2025. Particularly noteworthy are the foreign language courses, which are offered in more than 21 languages. This initiative is part of a comprehensive educational offering designed to give the citizens of Reinickendorf, a city with around 80,700 inhabitants, the opportunity to expand and deepen their language skills. A striking event will take place on September 26th on the European Day of Languages, where interested participants will have the chance to take part in free taster courses and gain a first insight into different languages.
The trial courses last 45 minutes each and allow participants not only to get to know the language, but also to meet the course leaders. Both face-to-face and online courses are offered. The face-to-face courses take place in the halls at Borsigturm, Am Borsigturm 6, and offer a range of languages including Korean, Danish, Icelandic and Swedish at different times. Languages such as Polish, Yiddish, Norwegian and Hebrew are on the program for the online courses in the vhs cloud. The exact times and course numbers can be found on the official VHS website.
European Day of Languages
The European Day of Languages was established by the Council of Europe in 2001 and is celebrated annually on September 26th in over 40 European countries. This scene, launched on the occasion of the European Year of Languages, aims to promote multilingualism. Events on this topic are coordinated by the European Foreign Language Center of the Council of Europe and the European Union. In Berlin, EUNIC organizes “mini language courses” together with the central and state libraries as well as the district libraries, which are aimed at primary school students from different city districts.
These language courses, coordinated by EUNIC, are often referred to as “language pools” and offer interested children the opportunity to acquire basic language skills. Every year more than 1,000 children take part in these events, highlighting the importance of language development for the younger generation.
The VHS Reinickendorf informs those interested about its offerings through various channels, including local press and websites. For further information, those interested can contact the VHS directly, either by phone or email. In this way, access to high-quality language courses - both for English and many other languages - is promoted in Reinickendorf.
For questions or registrations, you can contact the VHS on 030 90294-4800 or by email vhs@reinickendorf.berlin.de.
