BVG security strips: Insights into the security of the U8 in Reinickendorf

In an exciting commitment to the safety of passengers in Reinickendorf, district councilor Julia Schrod-Thiel (CDU) accompanied a team from the Berlin transport company (BVG) on the U8 underground line. Under the motto "Security first" she made her way between the Franz-Neumann-Platz and Wittenau stations, where she was able to experience the important work of the security forces up close.

"I was fascinated by the care that the security team shows," said Schrod-Thiel after her impressive tour. "Every little impurities, be it a buried drink or broken slices, was reported immediately! The flexibility and the quick use of the BVG employees are crucial." And not only that - also the constant communication with the police and the Berlin city cleaning (BSR) lifts the security standards to a new level. "The safety strips are also on the spot for small problems and are active to passengers."

The power of presence

Dialogue with the security forces shows that they not only ensure cleanliness, but also an important element of de -escalation. The use of bodycams has proven to be extremely valuable in order to recognize conflicts in good time and to counter them. The reactions of the passengers are consistently positive - their presence ensures a feeling of security. "People feel safer and better cared for when the security forces are nearby," emphasizes Schrod-Thiel, the importance of these measures.

In order to further increase the security and well-being in the subway, the district councilor said that the impressions obtained will flow into the future security policy planning of the district office. "We have to do everything we can to the fact that the passengers feel even more comfortable in Reinickendorf. Working with the BVG and our security authorities is continued more intensively than ever," she announced vigorously.
