New pedestrian crossing in Namslaustraße planned from May 6th
From May 6, 2024, construction work will be carried out on the Namslaustraße for a new pedestrian crossing with central island and two sidewalk leads on the confluence with Namslaustraße/Sterkrader Straße. The total costs amount to around 120,000 euros, which are financed from the program "Measures to increase traffic safety for pedestrians" by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment.
The construction work is carried out in two sections, with the pedestrian crossing with central island being built in Namslaustraße. This is followed by the implementation of the bilateral side forwards at the confluence with Namslaustraße/Sterkrader Straße. During the construction work, the Namslaustraße or Sterkrader Straße will be closed in the intersection, but the access for the police, fire brigade and rescue workers remains guaranteed. The construction work should be completed on June 28, 2024.
This measure serves to improve traffic safety for pedestrians and cyclists in Reinickendorf and contribute to making school for the children of the Havelmüller primary school more secure. The district councilor for order, environment and transport, Julia Schrod-Thiel (CDU), emphasizes the importance of these continuous efforts to increase safety in road traffic.
