memorial campaigns in Reinickendorf: New trainees set a sign of memory

The new trainees of the Reinickendorf district office recently undertook a significant memorial campaign that not only sensitizes not only the young generation, but also underlines the importance of remembering the victims of National Socialist crimes. As part of their introductory weeks, the trainees visited the memorial place on Eichborndamm 238 and cleaned the stumbling blocks, which are reminiscent of the children deceased in the "Children's Department" between 1941 and 1945.

The "Children's Department" in the urban nerve clinic for children, which was opened in Wittenau in 1941, is a dark chapter of German history. Children who were classified as "meaningful" often suffered cruel fates through medical experiments or poor care, which led to their death. The processing of this story is crucial to ensure that such crimes never happen again.

The campaign was made possible by the commitment of Peter Rode and the working group. Culture City Councilor Harald Muschner (CDU) expressed gratefully: "It is our duty to maintain the memory of the hideous crimes of the Nazis and especially their victims." This sentence illustrates the responsibility that everyone bears to learn from history.

During the leadership led by Imke Küster, the trainees received deeper insights into the fates of the affected children and the tragic history of the place. Such educational offers are essential to raise awareness of the atrocities of the past and to promote a culture of remembering in current society.

This initiative is not only an act of commemoration, but also a step in educational work, which could possibly have long -term effects on the attitude towards the history and ethics. It becomes clear that memory work is still of great importance today, especially at a time when the knowledge of the National Socialist past is not always a matter of course.

The Museum Reinickendorf is available for more information about the memorial campaigns and opportunities for participation or support. Contact information can be found at www.museum-reinickendorf.de or by phone at (030) 90294-6460.
