Migration advisory board in Reinickendorf: Diversity for a strong community

It is a new beginning for Reinickendorf! On September 25, 2024, numerous personalities gathered in the district office in the brilliantly decorated BVV hall to celebrate the germ cell of a groundbreaking initiative: the migration advisory board! Here people meet with an abundance of migration backgrounds, mixed stiffly from all corners of the world, to raise the voice of migrants and to strengthen their visibility in society.

Under the watchful eye of district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU), the new members of the advisory board experienced a solemn moment when they received their appointment certificates. "We want equal opportunities for everyone - no matter where they come from!" called it. The migration advisory board is said to act as a bridge between cultures and focus on the needs of migrants. Together, solutions for the challenges of everyday life must be developed!

This innovative institution is based on the Berlin Participation Act of 2021, which ensures that each district has such an advisory board. He will play a central role when it comes to migration, diversity and anti -discrimination. "We advise the administration and work on listening to the voice of a wide variety of cultures," said a member of the advisory board full of enthusiasm.

A total of 15 committed members were selected by a specialist jury who is composed of local actors in the field of migration and participation. They not only bring their experiences, but also the strong striving for integration and equality. Each of them has a powerful curriculum vitae, which ranges from voluntary work to various professional backgrounds.
